The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results. We have fallen into a pattern where we repeat the mistakes others made in the past, but have we asked ourselves, why are we making the same mistakes? The answer is lack of leadership development.

Much like a strong foundation is critical to the stability of any physical structure, organizations must build foundations capable of bearing the weight of growth and pressure of change. Cultures can quickly become toxic, killing an organization’s ability to succeed, when leaders build Deadly Expectations into their Foundation for Success.

Millennials and future leaders no longer have to make the mistakes of yesterday in order to learn valuable lessons tomorrow; they can have the answers they need today! Laser brilliantly combines her expertise in risk reduction, human behavior and strategy with existing ‘better’ practices and learnings from others, in this entertaining, easy to read, solution-packed beginner’s guide to leadership essentials.

T.A. Laser, an insider with nearly three decades of experience in leading, educating and advising Fortune 500 companies, governments and communities around the globe, reveals how the lack of leadership development opportunities and ignorance of Deadly Practices lie at the root of many problems currently plaguing organizations.

Laser believes that everyone has the ability to impact positive change and invites you to join her on the journey towards building better paths to success!

Does your leadership matter?
Will you be remembered?
Do you have IMPACT?

IMPACT: A Leadership Fable is an inspirational tale of how to be a quality leader while maintaining values we often lose sight of along the road to success.

This is not your typical list of ways to be a better leader. Galen uses storytelling to highlight the seductive traps every would-be leader must avoid, as well as principles to stay on the right course.

In this one leadership fable, Galen tells a story, shares tools to help chart a course to leadership success, and compiles real examples from leaders in business, education and nonprofit sectors; all to reveal how you too can be a leader who matters to others – even when you’re no longer present.

Whether you are a new frontline professional or an experienced leader heading a complex organization, it’s possible to have confidence in the difference you are making – and it may be easier than you think.

Leadership is one of the world’s oldest professions. There are countless resources for one to learn about leadership and do in-depth study. In this book, my goal is not to provide a scholarly tome, but rather to provide emerging leaders simple messages for guidance and success. I do this through 140 simple messages that have helped me navigate life.

Why am I providing 140 messages, some have asked? Why not use traditional numbers, like five, ten, or 100? The answer is very simple. We are living at a time when Twitter and its 140-character limitation (now 280) is being used by leaders in all areas of life and at all levels of organizations. Some leaders are exemplary in their use of Twitter, and others less than exemplary. My goal is to leverage the zeitgeist we are living in to show how by using the limited characters allowed by Twitter, leaders can communicate strong messages that make a positive impact on people’s lives. For that reason, this actionable leadership journal contains 140 Twitter-length messages written as a guide for emerging leaders on living, learning, and developing themselves and others on their journey to success.

Additionally, I have become convinced of the power of well-crafted short messages for another reason. I was a Forbes contributor for a year. As a member of the Forbes Coaches Council during that year, I contributed to thirty question-and-answer columns. The answers to the Q&As I submitted to Forbes were required to be 400 characters or fewer. This is slightly longer than Twitter’s new 280-character limit. Some of the columns I appeared in were read by as few as 2,000 people. My most popular column, however, was read by more than 30,000 people. This clearly shows that people found value in our succinct messages and shared them with others. Hence, I believe there is value in the messages contained in this book designed to be an actionable leadership journal.

There are leaders. Then there are HERO leaders—those who go beyond providing free coffee in the office or giving 10 percent of proceeds to charity. This book is for the leaders, entrepreneurs, and small business owners who understand what Henry Ford meant when he said, “a business that makes nothing but money is a poor business.” Hero leaders make money, but they also create a culture in which people are the priority. Hero leaders not only go the extra mile—they take their teams along for the ride.

Veteran entrepreneur and former Kodak CMO Jeffrey Hayzlett knows firsthand what it takes to go from zero to hero in a world where every leader, business, and brand is held accountable by their customers and employees. In these pages, Hayzlett challenges leaders like you to examine their own values and behaviors as he shines a light on what happens to companies when their values no longer align with their mission. He shows you how to transform your organization and create a hero company by becoming a hero leader yourself.

The call to hero leadership is a choice to be more than good, more than great, no matter the circumstances. Becoming a hero is a conscious choice leaders and companies make: to decide what you value and hold yourself accountable to live those values consistently and sustainably in everything you do. There is no better time than now to discover your own hero factor. And your origin story begins now.

Learn how to:

  • Invest in people as a path to more inclusion
  • Recast the role of business leadership beyond politics
  • Serve others/the common good
  • Avoid failure, reasons why not, and the lure of the dark side when things get tough
  • Know the line between hero and martyr
  • Create the next generation of hero leaders

Cracking the Curiosity Code: The Key to Unlocking Human Potential:  Curiosity is one of the most analyzed, discussed, and written about topics in the study of human behavior. We have learned that it is innate from birth, as illustrated by the phrase, childlike curiosity. We have learned that it is essential to the survival of the entire animal kingdom. We have learned that the most successful leaders and entrepreneurs attribute their success to sustaining their childlike curiosity, while many people’s sense of curiosity tends to wane or deteriorate as they age. For the longest time, we attributed that diminished state of curiosity to the aging process itself. But studies have shown that is not the case. Why do we lose our childlike curiosity? What are the causes; and what are the consequences? Most importantly, how do we get it back? That is the essence of this book. Complete with the latest research, interviews with top leaders and entrepreneurs, and analysis, the author presents her case that, our fears, our assumptions, technology, and our environment, are the major factors that contribute to our diminished curiosity. Those causes, which she has reduced to the acronym, F. A. T. E., are examined, with the means for the reader to measure each, and take the necessary action to regain their childlike curiosity. Learn How to Get it Back – Scientific studies have demonstrated that success in the workplace and living as a healthy human being are heavily dependent on curiosity. But many people tend to lose their curiosity. Cracking the Curiosity Code helps the reader determine what causes their lack of curiosity, and how to get it back.

The first ever playbook for B2B salespeople on how to win clients and customers who are already
being serviced by your competition, from the author of The Only Sales Guide You’ll Ever Need and The Lost Art of Closing.
Like it or not, sales is often a zero-sum game: Your win is someone else’s loss. Most salespeople work in mature, overcrowded industries, your offerings perceived (often unfairly) as commodities. Growth requires taking market share from your competitors, while they try to do the same to you. How else can you grow 12 percent a year in an industry that’s only growing by 3 percent?
It’s not easy for any salesperson to execute a competitive displacement–or, in other words, “eat their lunch.” You might think this requires a bloodthirsty “whatever it takes” attitude, but that’s the opposite of what works. If you act like a Mafia don, you only make yourself difficult to trust and impossible to see as a long-term partner. Instead, this book shows you how to find and maintain a long-term competitive advantage by taking steps like:

  • ranking prospective new clients not by their size or convenience to you, but by who stands to gain the most from your solution.
  • understanding the different priorities for everyone in your prospect’s organization, from the CEO to the accountants, and addressing their various concerns.
  • developing a systematic contact plan for all those different stakeholders so you can win over the right people at the organization in the optimal sequence.

Your competitors may be tough, but with the strategies you’ll discover in this book, you’ll soon be eating their lunch.

Innovation is not just about technical and systematic processes. In The Innovator’s Advantage, authors Evans Baiya and Ron Price reveal that the key to success is how you intertwine people throughout the innovation process. Organizing people is the first step and wrapping the processes tools, and systems around the people is the second step. Understanding how each person’s talent, skills and passion will influence innovation and how you can maximize their contributions is the secret to improving your innovation track record, creating in-demand products and services, and developing organizations where people want to work.
