I grew up in a tough, lower-class neighborhood and I learned early that you have to negotiate the life you desire. The key to getting what you want and deserve is the art of influence and persuasion. Yet we’re not taught the secrets to this critical life skill.
My parents taught me early about my worth. What a gift I’d been given, believing my voice mattered. Not all women are so lucky. Women tend to put their own desires secondary to the needs and desires of others. We park our purpose; we short-change ourselves. I created Women on Purpose (https://www.womenonpurpose.ca/) to empower ambitious women through my coaching, speaking, and writing to unleash their feminine power to rediscover their true purpose, take charge of their lives, and become the best version of themselves. I help women get what they want by leaning into innate feminine strengths with my patented negotiation models. This, in turn, creates more success for them in their personal lives, leading them to feel confident, powerful and in control.
Growing up, around our modest dinner table, our family discussed and debated injustices in the world. My father taught me that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. So, upon graduating from the prestigious Osgoode Hall Law School, I passed up lucrative job offers and established my own social justice law practice instead, Watson Labour Law. I became well-known for my negotiation skills, exceptional representation of, and effective advocacy for “the underdog”: workers, women, and less-advantaged people of all descriptions.
I love giving a voice to marginalized people. Recently I added an exceptional law partner, Riley Palmer, LL.B, to create our new firm, Watson Palmer Law. Our expanded capability allows me to focus on my mission, redefining success, power, and how we can negotiate to get better outcomes.
As a speaker and coach, I am known for my passion, commitment, deep caring, and ability to inspire. My recent book, The Art of Feminine Negotiation: How to Get What You Want From the Boardroom to the Bedroom, is on the Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestseller lists and is an Amazon #1 Best-Seller in multiple categories. I also created a new kind of Planner with my daughter Jade: Purpose Planner: Live on Purpose and with Purpose. Women who use this Purpose Planner daily see profound growth, mindset shifts, and new habits that enhance their lives in every aspect, from relationships to productivity and performance to achieve their goals and vision.
