I’ve spoken to SO many aspiring entrepreneurs over the last decade (or so) who were all at the beginning of their journey of finding their ‘THING’. Their INNER BRILLIANCE (as I like to call it). 

[Disclosure: I can SO relate to this, as it has been my own journey too]. 

At the core of our Inner Brilliance is often an innate talent – a strength that comes naturally to us. And, because it comes so naturally to us, it’s often easy to discredit. 

So, we end up searching, learning, searching, doing more learning, more searching, and more learning. Trying to find OUR thing. 

Sadly, for many the journey of learning and searching never really comes to an end. Because, despite how hard they work at making it work – it never really does work. Or, not to the level they really wanted it to. 

And, that’s because they are missing that one, fundamental thing. They continue to disregard that innate talent – that strength, their Inner Brilliance. 

However, herein lies the gold. 

It’s NEVER too late. 

So here are some of the things I’ve learned over the years: 

• Stop doubting yourself. Doubt is a lying THIEF! Tell doubt to F-off. 
• Stop searching for answers that are already there in front of you. You just need to look with renewed hope and expectation. It IS there – take the time to dig a little deeper. 
• Start listening to the people around you who continue to comment about certain aspects of you and how you show up. THIS is evidence of your Inner Brilliance. 
• Start listening to the compliments people say to you. DON’T discredit what they say, as this is a way to undervalue yourself. 
• Stop looking at what other people are doing. They don’t have your strengths and Inner Brilliance. They haven’t walked your journey; or developed and honed your strengths; nor do they have the same passion and purpose as you. Find YOUR’s. 

Because when you do; it won’t seem like work. It will flow. Yes, you need to take action, and LOTS of action – but it won’t seem hard, because you are loving what you do.  

Trust me. I know. Because it’s been my journey (from the age of 15 – if truth be known). So, I’ve breathed it. I’ve lived it.  

And, actually it’s because it IS my Inner Brilliance. 

It’s why I became a Career Coach – some several decades ago. 

It’s why I still love helping other entrepreneurs discover their Inner Brilliance. 

It’s why I love interviewing my podcasts guests and creating an environment and a platform that enables them to showcase their brilliance 

It’s why I do what I do. 

So, my question to you – what’s your why? What’s your Inner Brilliance?

If you’ve been following along during the last 28 days during our 30DaysToDistinction Challenge, Tip #19 was when I shared the importance of building Reputation Equity vs Vanity Numbers – because your reputation is bankable, especially as a coach and consultant who wants to be seen as a trusted authority and have clients invest in your programs – and vanity number are not.  

If you’ve attended one of my Profitable and Purposeful Podcasting Masterclasses for Coaches and Consultants you would have heard of me sharing more about my Podcast Positioning Quadrant.  

One of the Quadrants is Celebrity, with the Celebrity scoring High on Audience, but low on Authority. They are High on Audience because they have a charisma about them that attracts and engages, they most likely have quite a large following of regular viewers/listeners. 

BUT you would not hire that person to do your taxes, represent you in a court of law, or perform brain surgery on you. Because you wouldn’t see them as a trusted authority and someone you would hire for their specific support. 

If you’re a Coach and/or Consultant – who wants to eventually generate clients from the message and content you’re sharing so they invest in YOU, YOUR expertise, and YOUR support – then it’s important to focus on building your reputation as a trusted authority, vs building your following. 

In fact, if you continue to build your reputation as a trusted authority and continue to share valuable content consistently, you’ll continue to build your audience. However, it may be a smaller niched audience, however far more engaged and more likely to take action as you continue to sew into their lives with the valuable content and message you share. 

So, build reputation equity – not vanity numbers.

Have you heard this powerful quote before? “Life is like photography. We develop from the negatives. 

It’s a quote Annemarie has reminded herself of a LOT over the years as she’s picked herself up and dusted herself off from yet another failure or disappointment. 

In fact, it was those failures and disappointments and the many lessons she learned, which are now principles and steps she teaches her clients as they continue to struggle with the challenges she struggled with.

You only need to look online to find numerous marketers talking about how you need to do this in order to get more clients, or this new bright shiny object is THE answer. Whatever the tactic, or whatever the bright shiny tool there’s one key thing that none of these marketers talk about. 

And, that’s – just because you can – doesn’t mean you should. 

Just because you can (fill in the gap of the tactic or bright shiny tool) – doesn’t mean you should. Because it might be a GREAT tactic, a GREAT tool, that is right for someone else and it may be right for you BUT not right now in your business. 

So, right tactic, wrong timing.  

Even the best thought-out strategy may not be the RIGHT strategy for you, become it’s the WRONG timing for where you’re at in your business.

For instance, a podcast is a great marketing strategy IF your message is already working. 

If your message isn’t working and you’re hoping a podcast will turn things around – it won’t. 

Because a podcast will only amplify a message that isn’t working, to a lot more people. So, be mindful of the strategies and tactics you implement.  Because you may be falling into the trap of RIGHT strategy, WRONG timing for your business. 

Another example could be writing a book. Writing a book is a great way to build your authority, however similarly to a podcast if you haven’t clearly defined how you’re going to leverage your book, you’re unclear on what you want to become known as a trusted authority in, and your message isn’t working – then writing a book at this time is WRONG timing. 

Have a think about some of the marketing and tools you’ve been using in your business. Are they working as well as you’d hoped?  

Perhaps it’s because they are a great tool or marketing strategy BUT just wrong timing for you with the state you’re at in your business.

Whenever you create a piece of content there has to be an end in mind AND a next step that you encourage your ideal client to take that gets them into the next step, the next phase of the customer journey as you continue to build know, like and trust.  

The purpose of your content is of course to bring value, and position yourself as a trusted authority, with the content so good, that when you invite them to take the next step, your ideal will. 

When it comes to your content, think about the 3 ‘E’s 

• Educate 
• Engage 
• Entice 

Educate your ideal client with valuable insights, engage and build know like and trust by ensuring your message resonates with them, and then entice them and seed and lead to the next step. Invite them to take that next step.

Hi, this is Annemarie – welcome to another episode. 

This is the fourth part of a series I’ve been running. If you’re only just joining me the series was specifically for coaches or consultants who felt like the world’s best-kept secret. This may be you and while your experience is vast, you’re secretly frustrated, because, despite all of your hard work, you’re just not getting the visibility, recognition, or new clients you’d hoped for despite all of the hard work you’ve put into your business.  

So, you’re thinking of launching a podcast – because you’ve heard a podcast will help you amplify your message.  

As I’ve said before and I will say again, a podcast can certainly help you amplify your message. However, it’ll only amplify the message that’s not working to more people. 

This is why I always say – launching a podcast is easy. But launching a podcast that enables you to go from invisible to influential Trusted Authority is another matter altogether, which is what I’ll be sharing in my special series From Invisible to Influential Trusted Authority with a Podcast Series. It was part of a 9-Day Challenge I’ve run recently, however, I received such great feedback from people who attended the challenge, I knew I had to share it with you. Hey, it’s Annemarie – welcome to another 30DaystoDistinction tip where I’ll be sharing 30 tips over the next 30 days as part of our 30DaysToDistinction Challenge to help you become distinguishable, uncopyable and irresistible, so you are THE choice vs just A choice for your ideal client and can continue to bring real change in your sphere of influence with your message and expertise. 

This is Tip #25.  

And it’s all about the importance of repurposing your content. 

Now, before you roll your eyes and go ‘Annemarie, we already know that!’ 

Let me ask you a question – are you repurposing your content?  

Across different platforms at different times AND by leveraging different mediums? 

It’s important, because: 

1. It can take multiple times for someone to finally take action, which can be for a number of reasons from they’re not quite ready yet, they may to struggle through on their own and need to get to that frustration point where the cost of NOT doing something and investing in help is greater than them struggling on their own, and  
2. Not everyone consumes content in the specific way you are sharing it so will appreciate you leveraging a different medium to share it. 

For instance, you can: 

• Write an article 
• Take that article and create an infographic from the main points 
• Take that article and create a video 
• Take that video and strip the audio and include on your podcast 
• Take points of that article and create a slideshow  
• Take the article and create slides and a document on Linkedin 
• Take one of the points of the article and go deeper into that specific point 
• Then take that point and create an infographic from the new points you came up with 

And on it goes.  

See the content you can come up with just from one article?
