She joins Kristie on the show today to talk about her own experiences with domestic abuse, and her rise to serve and give back to others has lead to business success. Her story is touching and powerful.

Consider/Ask: Radical Mindset MusingsPredators and abusers are extremely powerful and manipulative. One of the biggest red flags Britt shares is that these people will try to insert themselves into your life as soon as possible.Abuse tends to follow a cycle: Grooming – Cloud 9/Romance – Strain – Abuse – Apology, and then it cycles back againThere can also be a larger cycle that gets wrapped up in the relationship, if a victim leaves a relationship it can be really easy to invite them back in when the abuser is in the apology cycleBrit describes the first time she experienced physical abuse, and how her abuser used the court system to get into a position of powerThis first experience, and her experiences over the span of five years, made her lose trust in the justice systemAbusive individuals know how to manipulate people and manipulate them well; it’s very purposeful the way that they do thingsIt is very common for victims to stay in the relationship for several reasons: sometimes they are in love with their abusers, sometimes they can’t leave because they depend on them financially, or are afraid to leave because of the possible consequencesAbuse is manifested in many ways – physical, verbal, sexual, financial, psychological, emotionalWhen you’ve experienced a trauma like abuse, it can sometimes start to seem normalBrit describes the time of abuse when her abuser almost took her life – “You never really know this until you’re living in it”Brit has a recording of her abuser admitting to this incident, and it serves as a point of validation and ease of guilt that she did not do anything to be in her situationAbuse is not prejudiced – it can happen to anyone; There is no specific social background, socio-economic status, education, racial, sexual orientation that is targetedThe rise: Brit began speaking out via articles, and has two non-profitsIt is not easy to overcome these traumas, but you don’t have to let that define who you are

Heather has lived through life difficulties just like you, but has since risen to a place of service to others and a life of joy. She currently works as a trauma practitioner, but is also certified in Kundalini yoga, as a dance therapist, and a mystic healer. On today’s episode, Kristie speaks with Heather about her experiences, struggles, and the rise.

Consider/Ask: Radical Mindset MusingsHeather’s childhood wasn’t typical – when she was 8 her mother switched mental states, and she took refuge in dancing and theater as a means of therapy and survival.She never got her mom back after that, which was devastating as a child; her brother was her angel during this time, but she observed how both her parents would wear “masks” in public and act differently at home – she took their depressions and issues personally.Her childhood friend had a huge impact on her, and helped her feel seen. Her friend saw her light when Heather herself could not see it. This friendship provided a safe haven.Heather talks about her relationship with Jesus, and how she had to be ready for him to enter her life, and that took some time for her.When it comes to trauma, Heather doesn’t address past traumas, but what the problem is now. Her approach is the less she knows, the better.Everyone has their own personal journey, that happens in their own time. Sometimes on our journey we’re feeling worse because we’re being worked on.While struggling with suicidal thoughts, Heather realized that if she had committed suicide, the truth about who she really was wouldn’t have come out. She wanted the light to win, and if she had left, the dark would’ve won.If people who are suicidal could have a purpose behind their situation, they may be able to see the situation differently.There is a need to redefine our mental health care system with more focus on brain protocols and other healing practices.

Revolutionary Leader’s Mantra: In your darkest hour, whether your sick or going through depression, the fact that you wake up and get out of bed is the bravest thing that you can do. Each step you take in that day, whether you believe or not, Jesus and God are with you taking them. Along the way, you learn about self-love, which can’t be given or bought.

Revolutionary Leader’s Weekly Challenge: Heather shares some tips to stay healthy:Set boundaries for yourself, and take your self-care very seriously. When you experience negative self-talk, train your mind in an opposite, more constructive way.

We go into automatic pilot and follow imposed ideas without considering our own dreams and what we want to accomplish.●      When Paula lost her father, she hid in her work. She was pregnant, running a business, and studying; she didn’t have time to be sad.●      Paula’s rock bottom happened in the midst of the debt of her company, when her son comforted her while she was crying. That’s when the search, and transformation, began.●      Though she didn’t know it at the time, Paula was struggling with depression. Medication worked, and she was eventually able to save the business.●      Medication helps you cope with a situation, but at some point you have to deal with the cause of what’s going on in your head and your soul.●      She never experienced suicidal thoughts, but Paula struggled with anxiety. Some of the symptoms were not wanting to go to work, and also she was often in a bad mood with her husband. She also experienced binge eating.●      As she was trying to come off medicine, that’s when she had her first encounter with spirituality and holistic healing. Paula started meditating, going to yoga, and using breathing exercises to manage anxiety and stress.●      When she was ready to leave the family business, people took notice of the successful sale of her business, and she started doing business coaching for people that asked. As she noticed trends in business coaching, she decided to get certified as a life coach.●      We need to detach from some energies, and instead get to know ourselves better, get to know our priorities, understand the possibilities, and then move forward consistently and fluidly. Revolutionary Leader’s Mantra: Sometimes in business you can try to handle too many things, and you forget yourself for the sake of your business. The business is always impacted by the person. As entrepreneurs, we have energy that goes into the business from the top down. If we’re not feeling okay as a person, the business will also suffer. You have to work on yourself first.  You are not what you do. You are who you are. Debbi is a media personality and visibility expert that works with spiritual professionals to put together the puzzle of writing a page-turner book. From a young age, it was clear that there was an extroversion about her, and that she was meant to be in front of people and thrive. In today’s episode, Debbi talks with Kristie about growing up, how duality affected her childhood and relationships growing up, as well as discussing some of her periods of depression and how she was able to pull herself out of it.

Consider/Ask: Radical Mindset MusingsDuality: She always felt she was meant to be in front of people and thrive, but she grew up in a household where she felt that she wasn’t meant to be seen or heard. Her wound became a gift and she was able to own it and be out in the world. Having activities to feed her creativity was a life saver for her growing up. Coping mechanisms for her anxiety and depression: pretending she was okay, using drugs and alcohol, and for a time, food.When you have machinations going on, you’re going to attract people to yourself that bring up some of the same wounds and situations; it won’t always be the best relationships.Rather than the things she was really asking for, she found these in healers and situations. When good comes your way, stand back and say yes and receive.Advocating for herself was really about one thing: being unable to handle the pain and believing that there was something better. It caused her to fight for herself and find a better way.What happens to us or what comes is all perfect. It is done in a way that gets our attention and it comes up because it’s meant to be healed. If we acknowledge and embrace it, we can allow ourselves to be healed and move to the other side. Message = “me sage” – we are all sages of our own journey and outcomesWe don’t have to be perfect to do what we do, we just have to do it.Visibility will catapult your career exponentially into success when you understand how to use it, how to show up, and how to knock it out of the park.

Revolutionary Leader’s Mantra: One of the greatest gifts her wounds gave her growing up is that she embraced a lot of people from different sects. It’s also given her a lot of compassion for people of different races, ethnicities, sexual orientation, etc. Our wounds aren’t just wounds; inherent in wounds are gifts that we would not have received otherwise had we not gone through that situation. Debbi now uses her wounds to help others write books.

Thank you Letter: If Debbi were to write a thank you letter, she would write to her friends and the people who reached out to her in her darkest hour, as well as the insurance company that allowed her to have the weekly phone conversations. The biggest one would be to the universe for not abandoning her.

Leon recently moved his family to Idaho and is working on breaking stigma around mental health, specifically suicide. Having dealt with his own thoughts and attempts of suicide, Leon is now studying Human Development & Family Studies and his looking to get into an education career, social work, or counseling. In this episode, he shares his journey of overcoming his struggles, some of his coping mechanisms (both good and bad), as well as the importance of having a support system around him.  Consider/Ask: Radical Mindset Musings●        When dealing with internal struggles or the symptoms that come with mental illness, it’s important to have someone to turn to. Symptoms can manifest themselves in many ways.

●        Running away from a problem doesn’t ever solve it; the problem becomes what defines you the more you run away from it.

●        We can be broken, but it’s all an achievement at the end. For Leon, his faith has helped him keep this perspective and reminds him that there is something worth overcoming for. Everything is just for a season.

●        There is a big stigma around mental health diagnoses; people don’t often talk about it because they don’t want to deal with other people’s problems.

●        Miscommunication can cloud the conversations we have with the people who care about our well-being. Leon notes that suicide can add the worst type of burden for loved ones.

●        It is always through endurance that we end up stronger and wiser; as much as we hate to go through the trials, they make us who we are.

●        To surmount our challenges, we have to wake up to face each day, and continue to wake up each day.

Revolutionary Leader’s Mantra: For Leon, this comes down to faith. While influenced by his parents, his own journey taught him the strength of faith. Leon uses the parable of the 5 talents to shape the perspective of how he sees the world around him. For him specifically he relates to the son who receives only 1 talent and hides away. If you don’t hide yourself away, you’ll receive the same as the sons with 5 and 2 talents.
