The wonderful thing about growing a little older is that it was like a switch was flipped when I turned forty. I call it the “I don’t give a flying flip what people think of me anymore!” switch, and it is kind of fun! I have a good friend of mine, Cynthia, who said it so well one day at our coffee spot one afternoon. She said, “We spend our twenties clueless of who we are and thinking “stuff ” will make us happy, our thirties we kind of know, but still not sure, in our forties, we have finally decided what we like and don’t like, and we are not afraid to let people know it .”How did I get there and why do we start caring in the first place? Listen to my newest podcast to find out how I learned that we are all perfectly imperfect and how to embrace every part of yourself.

We see it all of the time in articles stating that people don’t leave companies they leave bad managers. We also know those statics that a good leader who focuses on the people plus the strategy to get to their revenue goals outperform other companies all day long. So why do you still report to a crappy leader? Here are my top 3 thoughts that I have seen over the year in leadership roles, and working with Disney advising companies on how to improve their employee experience. It is all about balance in leadership and what they focus on the most… results or people.

As we walk through the next few months or years of the Covid19 pandemic; loss is something we all are trying to work through. Loss of loved ones, loss of our jobs, loss of freedom in doing the things we are used to doing daily, and loss of our identity in so many ways. How can we get through loss, understand how denial can be unhealthy, fake acceptance can be dangerous and how can we see some of the blessings through all of this craziness. I invited my neighbor Nakia Mohair who I have always felt had an amazing perspective on loss and created her own blog It is Well to help others who need a little encouragement.

As we watch so many emotions scatter across our news feed on social media, the news or even our own friends. We often ask the question, why are people so angry? Anger itself is a secondary emotion to what is really going on in our world. It is a sign that something in our lives is not the way we think it should be and we feel powerless to change it. People right now during Covid-19 and civil unrest feel powerless to change their circumstance or improve the lives of their community. So as humans we turn to anger instead of digging deep in our emotions and allowing the true strength of vulnerability help us unpack those emotions. My guest today is Sheryl English and we discuss vulnerability and the power to tell your story can help move past the anger and allows us to find true answers. Vulnerability in walking in your truth allows us to open our eyes to others so we can move forward TOGETHER!

Why is it so hard to find our “true” purpose in life? I truly believe we all have a purpose in life and finding it has been a hot topic these days and if you don’t know your purpose you are doing something wrong. Honestly, I think we are asking the wrong questions! Also, our understanding of what our “true” purpose is has been warped by what others think our purpose should be, what social media says it should be and too many times attaching it to things or our career. The true search is not for our purpose it is the search for yourself and knowing who you truly are.
