Why Leaders need a Relationship Architect:

Navigating Business, Personal and Spiritual Realms in a Data Driven AI environment.

Have you felt lost in the clouds of AI expansion, world chaos and demands of moving business and life at a faster pace?
Questioning Self-worth, how do you stay grounded enough to make decisions that anchor business and accelerate growth?

Leaders frequently are so focused on the metric, and systems required to maintain and build business they lose focus on understanding relationships are foundational to life, including how and who is developing the metrics, systems and who are the real customers. Relationships are taken for granted or looked at as incidental to having a system to build sales and operate the business.

Mary Ehrsam, President of Operation HOPE, and a 2026 Diamond Award recipient at the 10th Annual Women’s Wealth Symposium said this week, “Relationship Capital feeds into everything you do.”  With all the excitement around AI and how to use it to accelerate business growth, how we build a business relationship to support our use of AI becomes more important than ever.
Let’s start with the basic definition of the word relationship defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as:

The way in which two or more things or people are connectedthe state of being related or interrelated.

  1. The relationship between physical and mental health studied the relationship between the variables
The way in which two or more people, groups, countries, etc., talk to behave toward and deal with each other.
  1. We have a great working relationship.
The two teammates have a love-hate relationship. [=a mixture of love and hate for one another]

Beyond the basic definition there are four (4) types of relationships defined by the context typically presented for consideration presented for how we show up in business and life and a fifth seldom address until things fall apart and we find ourselves questioning everything else.  The four are:

1. Personal Relationships

These involve emotional or social connections between people. Examples:

  • Romantic: Emotional and/or physical intimacy between partners.
  • Friendship: A bond based on mutual trust, care, and shared interests.
  • Family: Blood or legal connections like parent-child, siblings, etc.
  • Professional/Collegial: Connections based on shared work or responsibilities.

2. Business Relationships

Interactions or partnerships between individuals, teams, or companies that are built for mutual benefit; financial, strategic, or operational. These include:

  • Client-Customer relationships
  • Vendor-Supplier relationships
  • Strategic Partnerships

3. Data/Logical Relationships

In data, math, or logic, this refers to how entities are connected or interact:

  • One-to-one
  • One-to-many
  • Correlation/causation

4. Spiritual/Energetic Relationships

Some people define relationships in terms of energy, alignment, or spiritual connection.     Such as:

  • karmic relationships
  • soulmates
  • Universal interdependence
  • God

The one relationship type frequently overlooked is what I consider fundamental to how we show up in all the other types of relationships,

5. The Relationship to Self

  •  Self-awareness
  • Acceptance of skills
  • Acceptance of our uniqueness
  • Acceptance of weakness and /or challenges

How we weave ourselves in everything always begins with ourselves. Until we can regulate and embrace the relationship with ourselves, it is tough to engage with all other types of relationships respectfully and build the “Relationship Capital” mentioned above.

We may underrate or take for grant our uniqueness. We see challenges and weakness as faults we either hide, ignore or hold as things to fix. Building self-awareness without shame requires self-regulation without judgement. Without the deep understanding and self-awareness of who we are, we can be unaware of why things are failing or how we are stumbling repeated.

When we understand those aspects of ourselves and how we show up in our relationship to all those other types of relationship we may begin to recognize our part in any problem and why blaming others has created drama instead of owning our part and finding ways to work in respectful relationship with others for a solution.

Working with a Relationship Architect can guide and support leaders wanting to improve their decision making and understand what values they are embracing and what they may be missing that others can provide to improve the outcome. AI can feed you data however it is never the final decision maker. That requires you and frequently others with input toward a solution. It is easier to engage yourself in all things when you understand what drives your decision-making process about anything.  Leveling up your strengths and finding the right team of individuals to support your needs and the needs in any business process become less stressful with less doubt.

You understand your need for support and acknowledge no challenge is unanswerable when you find the courage to face those challenges with support from those who have strengths in dealing with those issues. With self-awareness emotional intelligence can be enhanced to support the understanding of a team or partners to improve communications with less conflict.

Effectiveness of leadership can be improved with understanding of the values others use in decision making.  It allows analysis of what in the past we have frequently been blaming others for when we fail to recognize our part in a problem. There are plenty of AI programs to gather information and tips from; however, it’s a human Relationship Architect who can guide you to clarity in analyzing what you find and how you decipher what really works for you. Without clarity we may never develop the best of those relationships to create the best in ourselves in life and business.
