Welcome to the newest addition to the Compliance Podcast Network, Compliance and Coronavirus. This week, I visit with three Managing Directors from Affiliated Monitors about issues they are seeing around Covid-19 and the economy reopening, each from their professional perspective. In this episode I visit with Rod Grandon on issues around government contracting, government contractors and businesses which received PPP funding.

Grandon retired from the United States Government in 2017 after serving as a member of the Senior Executive Service with the Department of the Air Force and the US Coast Guard. Immediately prior to his retirement, Mr. Grandon was the Air Force Deputy General Counsel for Contractor Responsibility and Conflict Resolution. In that capacity, he served as the Air Force’s Suspending and Debarring Official, exercising authority to exclude contractors from the federal marketplace and entering into administrative agreements to provide contractors the opportunity to improve their operations and practices in lieu of suspension or debarment. He is the current co-chair of the ABA Public Contract Law Section, Suspension and Debarment Committee. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on matters relating to contractor responsibility.

Welcome to the newest addition to the Compliance Podcast Network, Compliance and Coronavirus. This week, I visit with three Managing Directors from Affiliated Monitors about issues they are seeing around Covid-19 and the economy reopening, each from their professional perspective. In this episode I visit with Dionne Lomax on antitrust issues in mergers and acquisitions as the economy reopens and into Q3 & Q4.

 Lomax is Managing Director of Antitrust and Trade Regulation at AMI. Ms. Lomax also teaches Business Law at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and co-teaches a Health Care Competition seminar at the Boston University School of Law. Prior to joining AMI, Ms. Lomax dedicated her legal career to analyzing complex business transactions from an antitrust regulatory perspective. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Lomax served as a Trial Attorney at the DOJ’s Antitrust Division’s Health Care Task Force where she analyzed the structure and operation of PHOs and IPAs, investigated health plan mergers, and other collaborative arrangements in the health care industry. She clerked for The Honorable Clifford Scott Green in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

In this episode I visit with Jesse Caplan on some of the critical compliance issues facing the health care industry and health care providers as we move to businesses reopening.

 Caplan is the Managing Director of Corporate Oversight for Affiliated Monitors. Jesse is an attorney who has spent most of his career in the healthcare field, including as the General Counsel for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services. At AMI, Jesse leads independent monitoring and proactive assessments of compliance and ethics programs in the healthcare industry, including hospitals, physicians, addiction drug treatment facilities, health insurers and others.

Welcome to the newest addition to the Compliance Podcast Network, Compliance and Coronavirus. In this episode, I am joined by David McLaughlin, the founder of QuantaVerse. McLaughlin’s business leadership philosophy and results-oriented approach were honed over the course of both his military and corporate careers. He spent six years as a naval officer, starting in 1986 as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and attending flight school in Pensacola, FL. A graduate of the highly regarded TOPGUN program, McLaughlin also completed a combat tour in the Persian Gulf, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and two Air Medals for bravery in combat. Prior to founding QuantaVerse, McLaughlin held senior executive positions with IPR International, NES Financial, and SEI. He graduated from West Virginia University and received a master’s degree from Webster University.

 In this episode, we consider some of the top questions QuantaVerse is hearing its clients; some of the top challenges financial institutions are facing during the Coronavirus health Crisis; how the reporting obligations of financial institutions impacted by the Coronavirus health crisis and the types of solutions that a financial institution can bring to bear at this point in time. Welcome to the newest addition to the Compliance Podcast Network, Compliance and Coronavirus. In this episode, I am joined by Gabe Gumbs. Gabe is the Chief Innovation Officer at Spirion. He leads the Spirion product team through strategic product development to create technologies that push data security forward in an increasingly complex digital world. Prior to his new position at Spirion, Gumbs held a range of positions in security technology, including VP of Product Management at Spirion. Other prior positions include VP of Product Strategy at STEALTHbits Technologies, and Director of Research and Products at WhiteHat Security. Gumbs also served on the Board of Advisors at eGRC.com.

 In this episode, we consider some of the challenges around data in the age of Coronavirus. Gabe discusses some of the top questions he and his team are hearing from customers during this time of Coronavirus and economic dislocation around data privacy and data protection during the economic dislocation. Gabe observes that trends which were in play have been largely amplified as a result of Covid-19 and the attendant economic dislocation increased trends in cybersecurity compliance. We conclude with a discussion of Spirion’s Data Discovery Agent and it can assist companies at this point in time and into Q3 and Q4.

His experience spans industries, with specific focus on financial services, life sciences, and real estate and construction. Prior to K2 Intelligence FIN, he worked for KPMG for over 20 years, most recently as a senior director with KPMG’s forensic services practice. Earlier in his career, Ray was a fraud investigator with the New York County District Attorney’s Office and the New York City Department of Investigation. He is a certified public accountant.

In this episode, we consider some of the challenges for compliance professionals in the current environment around fraud and risk management; what are some of the more holistic / programmatic things that compliance professionals can do to overcome some of these challenges at this point in time and conclude with what are some of the more tactical things that compliance professionals can do to overcome some of these challenges.
