Joy Ross Davis is the author of several books and writes imaginative fiction featuring unusual angels as main characters. Her novel, Countenance, won a Silver Medal of Excellence in an international readers’ awards contest while her novella, Emalyn’s Treasure won a coveted Gold Medal from Readers’ Favorites. She is, however, more than just an eloquent storyteller! After a twenty-five-year career as a college English professor, she traveled to Ireland and worked as a writer and photographer, publishing numerous travel articles and photos for an Irish travel agency. She has been a contributing feature writer for a local newspaper and has published articles in Southern literary magazines. She has a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and lives in Alabama with her son and beloved dogs. She loves to speak at conferences, book club meetings, and events to share her connection with angels and the stories behind her books.

Kortney has served in secondary education for 18 years in both the private and public/charter schools and has 12 years of college admissions counseling experience. She has managed, created, and implemented programs geared toward diverse groups of students. More recently, Kortney joined Firat Education in June 2019.

Kortney has advised over 225 students and has organized college admissions visits from in-state, out-of-state, public, and private institutions. She continues to nurture those relationships with college admissions representatives nationwide. Kortney is very familiar with the Ivy League college admissions landscape, noted by student acceptances from Princeton, Yale, and University of Pennsylvania.

Kortney has also served as a Recruiter and a Coordinator for scholarship programs, helping her high school students receive over $10 million in financial aid for college.

She is passionate about seeing young people realize their strengths and abilities – to build upon that foundation – and pursue dreams they never thought possible. Kortney enjoys the journey of helping high school students find their strengths as a means to guide their decision-making choices through the college selection process. 

Kortney is based in the Phoenix Area and serves clients in-person in Phoenix and online nationally.
