Jennifer Carriere is known as the Script Supervisor CEO.  She left her comfy job as a civil engineer to work alongside legends like Tyler Perry, J.J. Abrams, Chris Evans, Jeremy Irons and Ray Liotta!!  

“I walked away from a non-creative career to go play in the film and TV industry. Best decision of my life! What would I say to others who are considering doing the same? GO FOR IT! IT’S NEVER TOO LATE!”

A) Why were you a civil engineer? “I love problem solving, numbers, and certainty, and I loved the status that comes with being an engineer — people think you’re smart! However, I quickly learned that I didn’t love the predictability and monotony that came with a 9 to 5 and a cubicle.”

How well were you doing financially as a civil engineer and did money play any role in any hesitancy to change roles?

B) What caused you to make the switch? “I caught the bug for film and TV and made the switch swiftly, because I couldn’t not make the switch. Was it scary? Of course — I was carrying loads of student loan debt, and everyone told me I was nuts. But I knew I had to listen to my gut.”

C) What does a script supervisor do? “The script supervisor is the baddest boss on set! I’m a step ahead of the director (and get to boss them around a bit), I think like a producer and save the show daily with my influence and foresight, I talk story and character choices with the actors, and I get to hang out all day with artists who also happen to be major action-takers (the above-the-line filmmakers).”

D) What are some skills that translate well to script supervision? “Strong communication skills, calm demeanor under pressure, perseverance, ability to stay focused and re-focus quickly, and courage. The script supervisor has to be comfortable speaking up and acting like a boss while letting huge Hollywood personalities know you’re right, they’re wrong, and we should do it this way to save time and money — all without sounding cocky!”

E) Where would you be now if you hadn’t taken the leap? “I’d be living an ordinary and dissatisfying life, feeling unfulfilled, feeling regret, feeling stifled and predictable, feeling a diminished sense of purpose, and resenting myself for not taking risks. I also would never have shot a movie in the middle of the desert in the middle of the night, seen a moose barreling down the beach in Cape Cod, spent July 4th on a billionaire’s island with a group of actors swimming with sharks, piloted a yacht, or dated a Hollywood star! It’s been a dream!”

What do you advise others that want to also want to pursue another career but feel stuck in their current job because they have two kisd they have to feed, financial issues that make it hard to risk the change, etc.

She’s encouraging others to pursue their Hollywood dreams by being a script supervisor — a position Jennifer calls “The baddest boss on set” — with her “Script Supervisor CEO Training and Mentorship Program”

Bob Gaudio was inducted into the Songwriters, Rock and Roll, and the New Jersey Hall of Fame.  He was the principal writer & an original member of The Four Seasons, as in Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. He wrote and/or co-wrote “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and numerous others. He produced a number of songs for Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Roberta Flack & others. He co-produced the Frank Sinatra album Watertown His longtime association with Neil Diamond yielded seven albums.  

It seems like almost everything Bob was involved with was wildly successful. Born in da Bronx and moved to New Jersey, he created the music for the hit Tony Award winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys, in which he was also portrayed. He is now the co-Lead producer of the sensational Neil Diamond Broadway musical A Beautiful Noise. In this exclusive interview, Bob discusses:
