I listened to an interesting podcast episode about ‘fear’ and how fear is being used both as a weapon and is itself a spirit of fear. I totally agree. It’s why many of us have been speaking out for over two years for people to be discerning and mindful as to whom and what they listen to. 

As Christians, hearing that fear is a weapon and a ‘spirit of fear’ shouldn’t shock us, nor should we dismiss it, either. Because the Lord told us we were not fighting man, but rather powers and principalities, which we know as fallen angel (who parades himself as the angel of light) satan and his evil minions. And, since the spirit of fear is both a spiritual entity and a weapon, it’s no wonder the Lord told us NOT to FEAR – ANYTHING. 

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish 

 Isaiah 41: 10 

Fear NOT for I am with you.  

Have we followed the Lord’s instruction for us NOT to fear in all areas of our lives – even when our leaders continue to speak fear over us? And, as the world continues to crumble around us? Or, did/do we allow the patterns of the world, what’s happening in the world, and what we were being told and continue to be told, to cause fear and anxiousness? 

Have we come into agreement with fear and partnered with fear, rather than listening to what the Lord said when He told us NOT to fear – anything, no matter what? 

FEAR NOT for I am with you.  

If we have, the good news is, there is forgiveness when we seek it AND the wonderful news is we can continue to combat fear (and any other satanic attack for that matter), enabling us to stand against these evil powers and principalities when they come calling. 

I use this strategy daily:  

• Repent 
• Refocus 
• Read out loud and Declare the Word of God

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead tip. This is tip #3, which are the mistakes I made 13 years ago when I started my very first podcast. 

My co-host and I assumed this too, however, we were wrong. 

In fact, when my cohost and I hired mentors to help us monetize our podcast (back in 2008-2010) – many of them had come from mainstream radio and suggested we monetize our show with advertising and sponsorships.  

However, one of the things we didn’t realize back then (which I know now) was the incredible value of a smaller yet highly niched and highly engaged audience. 

And, how with a smaller highly niched audience you were far better to monetize your OWN message before you monetize someone else’s. 

I share more in today’s tip.

Hi this is Annemarie and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead tip. 

This is tip #2, which are the mistakes I made and wish I had avoided 13 years ago when I started my very first podcast.  

As businesses we know it can take multiple touchpoints for people to get to ‘know, like, and trust’ you. 

And, there’s a difference between your audience building ‘know, like and trust’ with you as a podcast host versus listening to you and building ‘know, like, and trust’ through the lens of ‘do I want to work with this person?’ 

In fact, I would say that a majority of your audience is not really looking to buy, but rather to learn, to be inspired, and/or to find and answer to a solution. They’re not really in buying mode. 

But there are some subtle things you can do…

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead tip. This is tip #1. 

A question I was asked once was “Is there a difference between podcasting and podcasting as a business?” My answer was, yes, absolutely there is a big difference. 

It’s easy to start a podcast. We have incredible tools and technologies at our fingertips making it very easy to press record, start speaking or interviewing a guest, then uploading to a podcast host. Congratulations – you are a podcaster. 

However, starting a podcast as a business, to build your visibility and reach and build an audience of your ideal clients, while building your reputation as a trusted authority, so you become THE choice vs just a choice while building your revenue as you begin to nurture listeners into leads, inquiries and ultimately paying customers – well that’s another matter altogether. It takes the right strategy and the right steps to get everything in place. 

Just like it’s relatively simple to start a coaching business. However, starting a coaching business that’s profitable and scalable, well that’s another matter altogether, It takes the right strategy, the right steps, and the right systems, to ensure you are able to grow your business the right way. 

And, it’s the same when it comes to podcasting as a business. 

So, is there a difference between podcasting and podcasting as a business? Yes, there is!  

Which is what this ListenerIntoLead series is all about.

In the next few tips, I’m going to share the mistakes my cohost and I made and what I know to do differently so you can start to generate results from your very first episode.

Your Personal Brand is your reputation. It’s what people think about you when your name is mentioned. It’s what people say about you when asked to share their experiences. 

And, while you can’t control what people think or say about you, you CAN influence it. 

By your actions, your interactions, your conversations, – everything can impact your reputation, your Personal Brand.  

Positively. Or negatively. 

If you do a Personal Brand audit today – would people think and say the exact things you’d want them to say?  

Or are you leaving it to chance? 

If you asked 5 people (who knew you well) to describe you in 5 words – would the 5 words they use to describe you be the same?

I’ve spoken to SO many aspiring entrepreneurs over the last decade (or so) who were all at the beginning of their journey of finding their ‘THING’. Their INNER BRILLIANCE (as I like to call it). 

[Disclosure: I can SO relate to this, as it has been my own journey too]. 

At the core of our Inner Brilliance is often an innate talent – a strength that comes naturally to us. And, because it comes so naturally to us, it’s often easy to discredit. 

So, we end up searching, learning, searching, doing more learning, more searching, and more learning. Trying to find OUR thing. 

Sadly, for many the journey of learning and searching never really comes to an end. Because, despite how hard they work at making it work – it never really does work. Or, not to the level they really wanted it to. 

And, that’s because they are missing that one, fundamental thing. They continue to disregard that innate talent – that strength, their Inner Brilliance. 

However, herein lies the gold. 

It’s NEVER too late. 

So here are some of the things I’ve learned over the years: 

• Stop doubting yourself. Doubt is a lying THIEF! Tell doubt to F-off. 
• Stop searching for answers that are already there in front of you. You just need to look with renewed hope and expectation. It IS there – take the time to dig a little deeper. 
• Start listening to the people around you who continue to comment about certain aspects of you and how you show up. THIS is evidence of your Inner Brilliance. 
• Start listening to the compliments people say to you. DON’T discredit what they say, as this is a way to undervalue yourself. 
• Stop looking at what other people are doing. They don’t have your strengths and Inner Brilliance. They haven’t walked your journey; or developed and honed your strengths; nor do they have the same passion and purpose as you. Find YOUR’s. 

Because when you do; it won’t seem like work. It will flow. Yes, you need to take action, and LOTS of action – but it won’t seem hard, because you are loving what you do.  

Trust me. I know. Because it’s been my journey (from the age of 15 – if truth be known). So, I’ve breathed it. I’ve lived it.  

And, actually it’s because it IS my Inner Brilliance. 

It’s why I became a Career Coach – some several decades ago. 

It’s why I still love helping other entrepreneurs discover their Inner Brilliance. 

It’s why I love interviewing my podcasts guests and creating an environment and a platform that enables them to showcase their brilliance 

It’s why I do what I do. 

So, my question to you – what’s your why? What’s your Inner Brilliance?
