A Lesson Learned In The C-Suite

I learned this distinction early in my career while selling enterprise-wide technology into C-suite environments. Although I was technically strong and well-prepared, I didn’t yet understand how to resonate with senior decision-makers. My sales strategies worked well at the user level, where conversations focused on features, functionality, and implementation. I could build rapport, answer questions, and support adoption. But when I used the same approach in executive conversations, it consistently fell flat. I was selling the right solution in the wrong way.

What I did not understand at the time was that the C-suite does not make decisions based on detail alone. Senior leaders respond to clarity, confidence, and coherence. They are listening not only to what is being said, but to how it is being said and to the steadiness of the person delivering the message. I had not yet learned how to attune my Signal Authority™ to the executive decision-making process.

Had I understood then what I know now about coherent resonance and Signal Authority™, I would have increased my sales effectiveness and enterprise-wide adoption dramatically. Not by working harder or proving more, but by aligning my presence, my message, and my pace with how decisions are actually made at the highest levels.
