Ozzie Stewart is a multifaceted woman with an impressive career in dance, fashion, acting, and more. Born in Trinidad, Stewart began studying ballet at age six before transitioning to musical theater under Nobel laureate Derek Walcott. She toured internationally for seven years, working with Galt MacDermott, James Earl Jones, Roscoe Lee Brown and others. Stewart earned simultaneous dance scholarships at the esteemed Alvin Ailey, Joffrey Ballet, and Martha Graham schools and was on track to land a role in Bob Fosse's "All That Jazz" before leaving to care for a friend who was injured in a bus accident.She later opened her own showroom on 42nd Street and Broadway, becoming the first Black woman to own a successful clothing fashion industry showroom in the heart of Times Square, where she successfully merchandised, marketed and sold designers' clothing lines such as: Busta Rhymes’ Bushi. In 2003, Stewart returned to acting, working on Off-Off Broadway productions and independent films, including a feature film debut in "Pariah" by award-winning director Dee Rees. She has also appeared in commercials for brands such as Bayer, Lifetime TV, and Charles Schwab, on television series such as Chicago Med, Power III, Manifest, FBI Most Wanted and more. In 2019, Stewart started her YouTube series, which was transformed into an audio Podcast series in the Covid spring of 2020, shining light on the lives and careers of everyday people, who are the stars in her eyes and highlights the lives and careers of people who impact her life. She became a best-selling author and award-winning actress in 2022 and returned to live podcast episodes in 2023, and launched her nonprofit organization, Beyond The Call 24 7, Inc which serves as the blueprint for people to take action on issues of: abuse, addiction, human trafficking, homelessness, animal welfare and our climate.Stewart is a single mother to her son, and grandmother and has resided in Manhattan, NY, for over 40 years after a nomadic childhood living in the US, London, and Trinidad.
