I had the privilege of being on Pete Durand’s podcast, Eating Crow, right after making the leap to leave the corporate world and jump in entrepreneurship. Take a listen as I am on the other side of the microphone this time!

Sonnie Linebarger is intimidating…

…in a subtle “I eat nails for breakfast” sort of way.

I’ve been following Sonnie for some time and when she agreed to be on the show I had an idea of where I wanted to take the episode…I was wrong.

Sonnie is complex – wife, mother, seasoned and successful business executive.

She’s also a life-long learner.

This really stayed with me during the episode – she’s obsessed with, well, evoking greatness – first in herself, then others.

She’s registered nurse (in a PICU none-the-less, I’ve seen that first hand…wow) and spent years leading a hospice and palliative care organization.

That’s next-level compassion.

Sonnie just left her corporate gig and is now out on her own, evoking leadership greatness.

Sonnie is one of the sharpest people I’ve interviewed (that’s a high bar).

She’s also a supermom and now an entrepreneur.

My battle with Hashimoto’s Disease has ranged from symptoms that appeared to be an anaphylactic reaction to severe brain fog to weight gain to losing my hair. I know…all the things we DON’T want to publicly talk about.

Precisely why I wanted to share the story of the last 10 years or so and the health challenges that I have encountered. I haven’t ever really shared the whole story.  I am acutely aware that most of my health issues were self inflicted because I CHOSE to chase the ambition…and there is always a cost to pushing too hard and not listening to your body.

Still, the traditional medical community still doesn’t look deep enough to identify things like Hashimoto’s. Make sure you have an MD you can trust and that you press when you need to in order to get answers.

 I have had far too many conversations with executive women in the last 6 months who struggled with burnout and major health crises. These things should NOT be our wake up call. They shouldn’t have to be.  I hope anyone  who is having health challenges really hears this message and knows when their body is telling them to slow down a bit.

We get one body and one go around in this beautiful life. Take good care of yourselves, friends!!
