Nir Eyal: ‘Looking passed life’s distractions’
Author Nir Eyal comes into the Bold TV studio to discuss his new book, Indistractable: How to Control Your Attention and Choose Your Life with GenBiz and the C-Suite Network. He talks about the common myth that technology is addicting, but he argues that technology is nothing more than a distraction and that distraction is just another way our brains deal with pain. All of our behaviors are prompted by a desire to escape discomfort. These new technological tools make finding distractions easier than ever, but distractions are not a new problem. Time management is pain management. Eyal tells GenBiz and the C-Suite Network there are four ways to increase focus: realize what you’re trying to escape, cope with discomfort in a healthier manner, plan your day to know what you’re being distracted from and use technology to limit distractions from technology.
