It's time we all step back and take a breath. For anything, maybe we need to ask, "do we have the will to change?" Change is hard, and it can be exhausting, and that's why dieting is so darn hard. Building and sustaining high-performance inclusive cultures takes more than a plan on how and what to change. It takes a strong, enduring will to change. If 2020 hasn't taught us anything, it should have taught us about fatigue and what it does to our ability to do what's right.

We are clearly facing a shortage of leaders capable of responding in real-time to change. From Brene' Brown to Marshall Goldsmith to Mary Frances Winters all say being open to and embrace those vulnerable moments forges stronger leaders, better teams, and allows organizations to use conversation in a productive way to achieve better results. The success of D,E & I work is dependent on a leader's ability to receive feedback in real-time. In the past that has been a challenge for employees to feel free to give feedback. But what if technology can solve that problem. James Kelley, Ph.D. in his book The Crucible's Gift interviewed leaders who used adversity to improve their ability to lead. As co-founder of qChange a technology to creates mindful meetings by helping leaders show up better.

Even in these times, opportunities are everywhere. Mergers, acquisitions and partnership may be the best way for you to keep your business alive. An often overlooked question is outside of products, services and sales what other questions should you be asking to decide whether merging with another is right for your company? One company didn't ask that question and it cost them $2.5M in direct costs. Don Myhan has 20 years advising executives, venture capitalist and other investors on what to look for, how to develop the implementation plan to capture the intended value in this area. Don is the founder of HR Studio International and can be found on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/donmyhan/ If you're considering a merger or partnership then you'll want to listen to this episode before you ink the deal.

You may have opened the doors but are your employees ready to comeback. Listen in on my conversation with Chris Powell, CEO Talmetrix on what are business owners, executives and managers facing when the doors open and customers show up. Most of the tips available are focused on physical safety. However engaging employees and getting their head back in the game means you have to re-engage their minds.

Key ideas: How to create the psychological safety necessary for problem solving to occur. What works in the middle of a crisis that will engender the trust necessary for employees to work effectively and customers to buy from your company.

Before #MeToo Judy’s organization was creating monthly events called Connect LIVE!:tm: which provides ongoing opportunities for women to Connect, Encourage and Inspire each other. The economic downturn of 2008 found Judy questioning what is it she really wanted to do and how to reinvent herself, her career and how she will continue to address women's issues. She shares what happened when a group of committed women work together. When they do Judy says, "all the necessary resources show up. With the right support you can change careers, start a business, gain financial freedom, enhance your spirituality and improve health outcomes." Judy founded ConnectLive and What Women Want which offers both monthly and the national conferences practical every day advice about transitioning to your next greatest adventure.

Right now the odds are you know someone who’s being battered, verbally or financially abused. The numbers don’t lie. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men. Finding a way to help can be tricky. How we judge each other keeps them from speaking up. My guest Elyshia Brooks is President of BrandNiquely You! Inc., a Personal and B2B Brand Strategy Boutique. Elyshia mentors hundreds of women locally and abroad on personal mastery, self-love and specifically on the topic on Abuse through Domestic Violence and Mental Wealth. She's beautiful, smart, finishing her doctorate at Walden University. She has one adult son who plays professional basketball overseas and she realized it was the opinions of others kept her from telling anyone she was raped and later involved in an abusive marriage. Is your opinion... your words keeping someone from safety?

Kimberlee Archie, Director of Equity and Inclusion for the City of Ashville, NC has been on a long journey of discovery. She has learned how to thrive when you’re a minority and responsible for teaching local government employees what it means to create a community that’s inclusive. In her work she has found it's what we don't talk about that keeps everyone from feeling included. At the top of the list, accepting, not just tolerating, that each of us is unique and equality isn't the a sustainable goal. Equality doesn’t allow for that but something else does. So if we aren't trying to achieve equality then what should we be working towards? Hear her perspective on what missing and what we don’t talk about when diversity is the topic.
