    In this episode, we talk to Dennis about how other people helped make him successful.  It’s a theme that started in college when he became a presidential scholar at SMU.  He didn’t think that he deserved it, but says that his friends vouched for him.  

    From there he paired up with people who were good at building websites.  They were so good that they actually rebuilt SMUs website.  From there it just escalated until they were building websites for billion-dollar corporations.  

    But his success didn’t end there...

    The Profit Junkie Podcast with Jake Randall – Episode 034 – Adam Carolla

    Adam Carolla is a comedian, popular radio personality, author, and business owner. You may recognize him from the radio call-in show Loveline that ran from 1995-2005. He also started The Man Show, Crank Yankers, and several other television programs.  

    But it wasn’t always so glamorous for Adam. All of the jobs he had as a young man involved hands-on labor. Working the grill at McDonalds, cleaning carpets, carpentry, and digging ditches for low hourly wages. But he noticed that these labor jobs that were the hardest, and dirtiest to perform… were also the lowest paying.   

    So he decided to take a different path and got into comedy and radio. These days a typical day has Adam running his construction and automotive businesses. Because now he’s working ON the business instead of IN the business.   

    Adam has also written several books, the latest one being I’m Your Emotional Support Animal. And since he has a knack for pointing out things that will happen in the future… we’re guessing this book will be no different.

    Larry Ludwig is always at the forefront of technology, digital marketing, and online business. He went to work for the ad agency Poppe Tyson in 1994. Larry helped create some of the first websites for the likes of J.P. Morgan Chase, LensCrafters, Minolta, T. Rowe Price, IBM, and ING Bank. 

    In 1998, he went on to work for the successful startup Commerce One, where he helped integrate a B2B solution for companies, including Eastman Chemical and Schlumberger. Later in 2001, Larry ventured off on his own and created Empowering Media, a successful design, development, and web-hosting service. He helped build the technology infrastructure to host highly trafficked websites such as Comedy Central, GM, Thought Catalog, and Nielsen.

    In December 2009, Larry created the website Investor Junkie to help satisfy his own needs and the needs of others to find unbiased investment content. From scratch, he created the leading investing review and comparison site, generating revenue only from affiliate marketing. In July 2018, Larry successfully sold Investor Junkie for $6 million.

    Bond Halbert is continuing the family tradition of creating marketing breakthroughs and showing professional copywriters how to write copy to brings in more sales.     Kevin Harrington is the inventor of the infomercial, Original Shark on Shark Tank and As Seen on TV Pioneer. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs of our time.

    In the early 1980's, Harrington was busy launching companies and working as both a real estate and business broker selling thousands of properties and thousands of businesses. While watching television one night in 1984, he noticed that sometimes the only thing on the screen were the color test bars that stations ran when they had nothing else to air. This gave him the idea to produce the industry's first 30-minute infomercial to fill the dead air space. Thus, the birth of the infomercial. 

    Since that fateful night, he has been involved with over 500 product launches that resulted in sales of over $4 billion dollars worldwide and 20 products that reached individual sales of over $100 million. By 1990, Harrington was named one of the 100 best entrepreneurs in the world by Entrepreneur Magazine.

    In the mid 1980's, Harrington formed Quantum International which grew to $500 million in sales, selling products in 100 countries in 20 languages. He then formed HSN direct in conjunction with the Home Shopping Network and soon after formed Reliant International Media. Then, he founded As Seen on TV, Inc. and acquired AsSeenOnTV.com, the world's largest web site featuring as seen on TV products. 

    With his impeccable track record, Harrington became internationally known for his entrepreneurial prowess and penchant for product development and sales. As such his business was used as a class case study for 12 years at Harvard/MIT, illustrating the essential principles of grass-roots entrepreneurship. He has worked with celebrities including Cee Lo Green, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, 50 Cent, George Foreman, Paula Abdul, Montel Williams, Hulk Hogan, Kris Jenner, Caitlyn Jenner, Tony Little, Billy Mays and many more. He is regularly featured as an industry expert in numerous media outlets including The Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, CNBC, Squawk Box with Jim Kramer, Bloomberg, Fox Business, CNN, MTV, Entrepreneur Magazine, Fast Company, Fortune, Inc., Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many more.

    In 2009, Harrington was selected as one of the original 'Shark Tank' Sharks on the ABC's Emmy-Award winning show. His episodes can currently be seen nightly on CNBC.

    He founded two global associations - ERA (Electronic Retailers Association), which is now in 45 countries and EO (Entrepreneurs Organization) which boasts more than 10,000 members.     Brian Kurtz is a serial direct marketer and has worked in the industry for over 35 years. He spent the first 34 years of his career helping boardroom Inc become a state-of-the-art direct marketing and publishing company. He has overseen the mailing of approximately 1.3 billion pieces of third class mail over the past 20 years, has been able to market and sell newsletters and books via direct response television (infomercials), and uses e-mail and the internet for marketing.

    While at Boardroom Inc, he was responsible for buying media in excess of $80 million and sold over 3 million books via direct response television over a three year period. Since then he never met a medium he didn’t like and has learned the ins and outs of every possible medium where direct marketing lives and thrives.
