Elaine Pasqua’s Up or Out Time with Connie Pheiff
Elaine Pasqua, author of “Mom I Got This: Building Your Legacy in College and Beyond” discusses how to take the pain from our past to positively influence the lives of others. Failures are learning experiences, and you have the power to re-invent yourself.
As a nationally recognized speaker, Elaine Pasqua has combined her life experiences, enthusiasm, and passion for positively influencing more than a half of a million students, parents, and athletes across the nation.
In 1989 Elaine’s mom and stepdad were diagnosed with AIDS. Witnessing the ravages of this disease as she cared for them, she vowed to speak out so others would not have to experience the pain and loss that twice touched her family. Elaine’s journey began shortly after the death of her mother in 1995. Her 13 years of experience as a dental hygienist and knowledge of public health enabled her to educate health and social service professionals about the psychosocial dynamics of HIV/AIDS.
She soon discovered her passion as she presented to high school and college students. Hearing countless stories of students whose lives were changed by one inconsequential decision, Elaine broadened her research and expanded her expertise to develop one of the most powerful models for educating diverse groups about alcohol, sexual health, sexual assault, and drugs.
Elaine’s extensive work and with collegiate athletes led her to provide player development training for the NFL, NBA, NY Giants, NY Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans and the Phillies.
A five-time nominee for Best Speaker of the Year for Campus Activities Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards, she is the columnist for their “Real Life on Campus” feature. She recently released her book, #Mom I Got This: Building Your Legacy in College and Beyond. Elaine has appeared on South Dakota Public Radio and the cast talks back for A Normal Heart on Broadway. She has been featured in USA Today, NY1 News, and Time Warner TV. She co-wrote, directed, and produced “Be Aware of the Risks of Date Rape Drugs” which has been viewed over 800,000 times on YouTube.
Elaine is a member of the National Speakers Association and received her CSP certification in July 2015.
