Karen Seminara is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Nickelodeon Group, overseeing all financial functions for Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick at Nite, as well as their complementary digital platforms. Seminara monitors the financial performance of Nickelodeon’s ancillary businesses including Nick’s robust consumer product and licensing business, recreation, mobile apps and download to own. She plays a vital role in the day-to-day decision making, prioritization of financial resources, and rationalization of businesses, partnering closely with all operating teams, as well as with the Production Management team to provide financial leadership and analytics for Nickelodeon’s Animation Studio. Seminara is also responsible for managing consumer products operations and production operations.
In 2015, Seminara was instrumental in transforming Viacom’s domestic Finance function from channel-oriented finance teams to functional centers of excellence including Production Finance, Programming Finance, Marketing Finance, Ancillary Finance and FP&A Finance. The restructure was implemented to maximize expertise, introduce higher value-add analytics and standardize process.
Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Seminara spent 14 years at NBCUniversal, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Bravo. Before that position, she held the title of Vice President of Finance at WNBC. Seminara began her career as an Accountant at Deloitte & Touche, LLP.
Seminara received her B.S. in Accounting from The University of Virginia and her M.B.A in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She is also a New York State Certified Public Accountant.
