Cynthia Hardy Young
Cynthia Hardy Young is Pivot Global’s CEO and Founder. Over several decades, Cynthia has built a reputation of high integrity, deep relationships, and delivering results. Those skills, combined with her domestic and international multi-cultural perspective, have allowed her to lead and advise transformations of organizations of various sizes, complexity and maturity.
Cynthia has managed profit and loss of multi-billion dollar divisions in domestic and international publicly-traded companies and practiced as an attorney in law firm and corporate settings with an emphasis on corporate defense, directors’ and officers’ liability and risk management.
Cynthia is the former Global Head of Agency at AIG where she led a multi-billion dollar retail sales distribution channel. She was President of Encompass Insurance, a division of Allstate Insurance that sells personal lines products countrywide, as well as President, Personal Lines Division of Hanover Insurance, and Vice President of Product Management, Personal Lines, The Hartford. Cynthia also held other profit and loss management roles at Hartford and Progressive, in addition to claims roles at Progressive.
As an attorney, Cynthia handled claims made under community bank directors’ & officers’ liability, bankers’ blanket bond, trust errors & omissions and employment practices liability products in Progressive’s Professional Liability Group. She also was a litigation associate at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, one of the largest law firms in the world.
Through her work in the community, Cynthia has focused on putting in place the fundamentals needed to transform lives. That has included enabling access to quality education and funding for education, helping women gain the skills needed to ensure economic independence, teaching adults to read, and mentoring young professionals.
Cynthia has a keen appreciation for stakeholder interests. She is adept at building and managing governmental relationships at all levels, building advocacy among corporate and community constituencies, and advancing national, state and local policy issues.
Cynthia is a respected leader, frequent speaker, and is quoted often in the media.
Cynthia received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Xavier University of Louisiana and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame School of Law.

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal named Sheila in their prestigious “40 Under Forty” list for her entrepreneurial dynamism and reputation as a networking expert.
Sheila, who is also faculty member of the GLG Institute, a membership-based learning community for leading executives, is a regular speaker on topics ranging from women on boards to excelling as a female leader. Sheila has recently participated in speaking engagements at NewsCorp, LPL Financial, Time Warner and L’Oreal.
