Robert Pizzini

This book is born of my desire to share with others the simple yet effective practices which have given me the tools to not only help my company and employees survive the COVID-19 pandemic, but thrive in the chaos. I first introduced the framework of the book as a company-wide leadership development and team-building seminar. During the pandemic, Elevate Your Leadership grew to be a very popular three-day online seminar. We have expanded to offer a popular experiential learning retreat which I lead at iFLY Virginia Beach Indoor Skydiving, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Leadership is a perishable skill. Use it or lose it. Musicians rehearse, athletes train, scientists conduct experiments. Leading others is no different. Successful leaders are dedicated to lifelong learning. This book will elevate your confidence and competence by developing your own leadership brand.

Good leaders draw from a variety of skills and qualities depending on the situation, like an artist draws from a palette of colors. In Part I, The Art of Leadership, you will craft your own unique leadership brand from a palette of leadership styles, power types, and core traits. When your leadership brand is infused with situational awareness and conscious execution, you avoid potentially explosive blind spots in your interactions with others and make the best decisions possible.

Part II, The Science of Leadership, guides you through adopting the habits which will elevate your fitness for leadership throughout your life. The science of leadership draws on six proven factors influencing physical wellness and mental vitality. Putting these factors into play will elevate your physical health and cognitive vitality while also deepening your reserves to handle inevitable chaos. You will discover greater energy and mental clarity and help your team to develop the same capacity for seeing opportunity amidst chaos and uncertainty.

Practicing both the art and science of leadership will prepare you to lead high-performing teams in today’s dynamic corporate environment.

11. Spencer Johnson

A timeless business classic, Who Moved My Cheese? uses a simple parable to reveal profound truths about dealing with change so that you can enjoy less stress and more success in your work and in your life.

It would be all so easy if you had a map to the Maze.
If the same old routines worked.
If they’d just stop moving “The Cheese.”
But things keep changing…

Most people are fearful of change, both personal and professional, because they don’t have any control over how or when it happens to them. Since change happens either to the individual or by the individual, Dr. Spencer Johnson, the coauthor of the multimillion bestseller The One Minute Manager, uses a deceptively simple story to show that when it comes to living in a rapidly changing world, what matters most is your attitude.

Exploring a simple way to take the fear and anxiety out of managing the future, Who Moved My Cheese? can help you discover how to anticipate, acknowledge, and accept change in order to have a positive impact on your job, your relationships, and every aspect of your life.

Deanna Singh

Are you tired of hollow promises about diversity, equity, and inclusion in your organization? Do you want to take steps towards real change – beyond issuing mission statements, signing checks, and holding listening sessions – but don’t know where to start? This book is your answer. Designed for teams to read together, Actions Speak Louder offers a comprehensive blueprint for leaders and teams who are ready to get out of their own way, look at their surroundings with new eyes, and turn their energy into a concrete plan.

Renowned DEI consultant Deanna Singh has led diversity trainings for a wide range of organizations, from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies. Using narratives, case studies, and the latest DEI research, as well as interactive exercises, Singh will teach you how to:

Write inclusive job advertisements because “minorities just don’t apply here” isn’t an excuse – you’re just not reaching them
Design an interview process that reduces status quo bias and challenges hiring decisions that are simply “no brainers”
Create a retention plan that considers and prioritizes the needs of underrepresented employees – if you haven’t intentionally designed one to be inclusive, you’ve unintentionally reinforced one that is exclusive.
Lead inclusive meetings – the bedrock of company culture – by practicing constructive dissent and elevating underrepresented perspectives

As Singh has seen time and time again, any organization can meaningfully change – you just need the right tools.

Steve Lishansky

The journey of leadership is one of the most significant endeavors of humanity.

Leadership is important for us to understand as individuals – and essential to the ultimate well-being of our people, organizations, communities, and the world at large.

While our leadership decisions determine the direction and consequences of our life and organizational outcomes, too few leaders have a consistent, congruent, and coherent basis for their choices. Weakness here leads to lack of alignment and agreement on what is most important, and ultimately poorer quality of results in our lives and companies.

This book focuses on answering leadership questions you probably should have asked yourself – but many fine leaders never did. Questions like:

– Where does leadership start?

– What are the most important decisions leaders must make?

– How congruent, consistent, and coherent is our decision-making process?

– Why does our organization achieve less than we expect?

– What are important leadership questions to consistently be asking?

– How do I gauge the alignment of my senior team – in minutes?

– Why are we working harder and achieving less than we should?

– Where do we go for deeper and better insights on leadership?

All of these – and more – are addressed in Leadership Starts Here. You are invited to join us on one of the most valuable journeys every caring, committed, and conscious leader knows they must take – to continually improve themselves, their teams, and their organizations. Only then will their leadership reach its ultimate impact and fulfillment.

Captain Emil Dobrovolschi & Octavian Pantiș

“This is your captain speaking.”

Become a better pilot for your projects, for your people, and even in life outside work by using valuable principles from aviation. You might be flying through turbulent times today – uncertainty, a lot of change, higher expectations from you – but all these can be handled well and Dark Cockpit will show you how.

“Dark Cockpit” is an aviation concept. It is the term we use for the situation when, except for the ambient and instrument lighting, no other light is on – no CAUTION lights (amber), no WARNING lights (red) and so on. Dark Cockpit means everything is fine and working as planned.

In this book, a very experienced airline captain and a senior business consultant will show you how to:

Bring clarity, boost morale, and achieve results through your communication

  • Quickly win the trust of the people you work with – and keep it
  • Assess your own readiness as a leader
  • Always have a plan and be prepared for whatever can go wrong
  • Meet the four requirements of a true professional
  • Develop responsibility, competence, and leadership in those around you
  • Be resilient, handle any turbulence, and help others do the same

Use the stories, principles, and advice from this book to “Dark Cockpit” your way through life, be it at work or at home.
