Managing Partner, Breakthrough Venture Partners
Bernard Slede is the founder and Managing Partner of Breakthrough Venture Partners. At this Silicon Valley venture firm which focuses on monetizing innovation, he takes an active role helping world-class emerging technology companies get to the next stage through market development and business alliances, often as member of the Board or Advisory Board. He is also a Global Venture Partners at BootstrapLabs, a San Francisco fund that invests in Artificial Intelligence startups.
Bernard has been a change agent throughout his work life, as an entrepreneur in tech and business services, an intrapreneur launching a European satellite TV service and a corporate VC at HP and Elf Aquitaine. He was at the Startup America kickoff at the White House and later became a Startup America champion. He has negotiated hundreds of millions of dollars worth of commercial deals and sold multiple patent portfolios. While at HP, he launched HP Startup Central. On occasion, he helps corporations on identifying innovation at scale using a proprietary big data engine.
While completing an M.Sc. from HEC Paris, Bernard took part in McGill University’s MBA program, ESADE Business School’s MBA program as well as a pioneering program in Chemical Engineering with the Illinois Institute of Technology.
